Dandelion has traditionally been used to support liver detoxification, while turmeric is a famously potent anti-inflammatory. The various spices also aid digestive function. Perfect to have in place of coffee.
Dandelion root (Taraxacum officinale radix) – Used for centuries to treat issues associated with any condition requiring liver support. Dandelion helps to increase the flow of digestive juices to assist the break down and absorption of food. Ideal for issues associated with a sluggish liver including skin conditions, skin inflammations, blood sugar irregularities and irritability.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) – An aromatic and sweet spice that supports healthy digestion, feelings of fullness and assists with inflammation. Cinnamon also contains powerful anti-fungal properties and has been clinically proven to balance blood sugar levels, reduce sweet cravings and lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels.
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) – Ginger has broad-spectrum anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps ignite digestive fire and calm intestinal spasms. Ginger is also a famously potent circulatory stimulant, promoting blood flow, warmth and energy to the body.
Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) – Contains many plant derived compounds that have anti-inflammatory and health promoting qualities. Useful for digestive complaints, over-acidity and detoxification.
Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum) – Aniseed is useful for stomach upsets and has a distinctive licorice flavour. It also contains useful expectorant and anti-septic properties. The seeds are an excellent source of many essential B-complex vitamins such as pyridoxine, niacin, riboflavin, and thiamin.
Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) – Cloves soothe the digestive tract and stimulate digestion by promoting the production and release of bile from the liver and gallbladder. They also have far reaching anti-bacterial and analgesic properties.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) – Turmeric has been prescribed for centuries for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Its main constituent curcuminoids have been shown to exert anti-carcinogenic properties, promote detoxification and analgesia.
Black pepper (Piper nigrum) – Peppercorns are composed of health benefiting essential oils such as piperine, which helps increase gut motility and digestion power by increasing gastro-intestinal enzyme secretions.
WHY IS OUR CHAI DIFFERENT?
Dandy-Tum is hand-blended in small batches from organically grown spices and herbs, adhering to its traditional way of preparation. However, we don’t bulk up this chai with Camellia sinensis (tea), allowing the spices to shine stronger and bring you more benefits. This means you can enjoy the spices as they develop together and individually, without the bitter tannins that are produced from long-steeped tea. So reuse this chai multiple times and enjoy the different tones and layers cup after cup!
